What does 'skin quality' cover?
Behind this expression lie several distinct components, which are not treated in the same way:
evenness of the complexion: pigmentation spots, melasma (mask of pregnancy), diffuse redness;
skin texture: enlarged pores, micro-relief, surface irregularities;
hydration and radiance: dull, dehydrated skin, marked by fatigue;
superficial firmness: loss of fine elasticity, crinkling of the skin;
scars: from acne, surgery or injury.
Identifying which of these components — one or several — is involved is the first step of the consultation.
Why skin quality declines
Skin ageing: progressive decrease in collagen and elastin production, thinning of the epidermis.
Sun: repeated exposure is the leading cause of pigmentation spots, loss of radiance and premature ageing.
Hormonal and genetic factors: melasma, a tendency to redness, sebum production.
Lifestyle: smoking, stress, lack of sleep and pollution accelerate skin ageing.
History of acne or inflammation: scars, enlarged pores, surface irregularities.

several techniques are frequently combined (for example peel and skin boosters, or laser and micro-needling), each acting on a different component;
the season matters: lasers and peels are preferably scheduled away from periods of strong sun exposure, and rigorous photoprotection is essential throughout the protocol;
a suitable skincare routine prolongs and maintains the results.
The phototype (skin colour), medical history and any current treatments are systematically taken into account: they determine the choice of techniques and their settings.
Expected results and follow-up
The goal is a visible yet natural improvement: a more even complexion, smoother and more radiant skin — never a frozen or artificial appearance. Some effects are rapid, such as the glow after a light peel; others, linked to collagen stimulation, develop over several weeks to several months.
